The Balvenie Caribbean Cask 14 year old single malt whisky has been matured in traditional oak whisky casks for 14 years and then finished in casks that previously held Caribbean rum. Malt Master David Stewart MBE filled American oak casks with his own blend of select West Indian rums: when he judged the casks to be ready, the rum was replaced with the 14 year old spirit. The result is an exceptional single malt whisky with the traditional smooth distillery character married withe extra sweetness and warmth. Aromas of brown sugar, nutmeg, shortbread, toffee and grapes are joined by flavours of vanilla, sultanas, raisins, apples, marmalade, sweet oak and caramel before finishing with rounded, soft and lingering notes of cereal, golden syrup and spices. A terrific single malt from The Balvenie.
