Pimms No.1 Cup is a liqueur that is a secret mix of quality gin, quinine, herbal botanicals, caramelized orange and delicate spices. James Pimm, a farmer’s son who owned an oyster bar in 19th-century London, created and offered his guests this drink as a tonic to aid digestion in small tankards known as no. 1 cups. He originally tried other formulas but the first gin-based formula he created was the most successful, hence the Number One in the name. Enjoyable by itself, it can also be served with lemonade, fruit punches, champagne and cocktails.
