This is a signature label in honor of Nikka’s founder Masataka Taketsuru, the first Japanese who mastered whisky-making in Scotland and brought this expertise back to Japan. This expression contains a high percentage of malt from Miyagikyo, with the reminder coming from Yoichi and is aged on average for around 10 years in a variety of different cask types, including some sherry wood for extra richness. On the nose: plum, raisin, apple, honey, cereal, black pepper and sherry. On the palate: coffee, milk chocolate, sherry, raisin and clove. The finish is long and lingering, with hints of rich fruit, barley and faint smoke. A fitting tribute to Masataka from his successors, highlighting a perfect balance with complexity achieved by precise blending inherited from the founder.
